Although there is current data on the situation of electrophysiology and catheter ablation in different regions of the world, information from Latin America is very limited.
In 2015, LAHRS published the 1st Latin American Catheter Ablation Registry, this information was recently updated in the 2nd LATIN AMERICAN CATHETER ABLATION REGISTRY published in 2024, showing data on the technical and human resources used in these procedures and their characteristics and results in Latin America.
An ambitious second publication of our society: CURRENT STATE OF ARRHYTHMIA CARE IN LATIN AMERICA: A STATEMENT FROM THE LATIN AMERICAN HEART RHYTHM SOCIETY , shows the current state of arrhythmia care in general in Latin America, constituting a true x-ray of the specialty and the first step towards writing the white book of electrophysiology in Latin America, with numbers of ablation procedures and device implantation by country, availability of technological, technical, human resources and care centers, current state of teaching, scientific societies and congresses in the region, showing where we are and the future challenges. It will undoubtedly be a required reference for the industry, scientific societies and electrophysiologists in general.
