Endorsed by LAHRS and SOBRAC, we performed the first multinational survey on Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) work-up and cardiogenetic infrastructure in Latin America.
Gathering data from 439 physicians across 11 countries, we identified critical structural gaps: only 8.9% considered the out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) response adequate, with 88% reporting limited/absent BLS/ACLS training and a mere 5.9% having access to widely available, well-maintained AEDs. Furthermore, 46.2% were unfamiliar with molecular autopsy, 30.8% had no access to genetic testing, and only 7.3% reported sufficient access to specialized cardiogenetic centers.
To bridge these gaps, region-specific policies and standardized multicenter protocols are urgently needed.
